-mails that show u.s. officials knew a group linked to al qaeda claimed responsibility for the attacks hours after the assault. the messages show up to 400 security officials at the white house, the state department, and the pentagon had copies of the e-mails in their possession while the consulate was still in flames. as you probably know, militants attacked consulate on 9/11 and killed four americans including the u.s. ambassador to libya. in the first days after the attack, the administration suggested it was likely part of a spontaneous protest against the antimuslim video. the e-mails including the one you see here, show officials learned quickly that the consulate was being fired upon. they show that administration officials knew a terror group claimed responsibility on facebook and they called for an attack on the embassy in tripoli. secretary of state, hillary clinton is pushing back on this. she says the e-mails do not tell the whole story. >> the independent accountability review board is hard at work looking at everything. not cherrypicking one story here or one document the

carolina. let's start with breaking news. a report in today's "new york times" that iran and the u.s. agreed in principal to one-on-one talks about iran's nuclear program. the white house said last night they have not agreed to talks but that the u.s., the administration, is open to the idea. senator graham, let me start with you, what do you think of one-on-one talks with iran and what do you make of the timing, two weeks before the election? >> i think the iranians are trying to take advantage of our election cycle to continue to talk. as we talk with the iranians, whether it's barley or -- bilaterally or unilaterally they continue to enrich. we talked with them in moscow, we talked with them in bagged. they continue to enrichment the time for talking is over. we should be demanding transparency and access to the nuclear program. they've doubled their centrifuges so i think this is a ploy by the iranians. i hope we're talking to the israelis and as we continue to talk, they continue to enrich and try to break apart the coalition. >> what do you think the timing of the story coming

growing at a modest pace. the thing hard here is that as modest as growth as been in the u.s. that is the fastest growth in the advanced world. so the world economy is in a tough spot. we're all struggling trying to get out of it. >> greta: and the republicans always say and tell me if this is wrong, is there a risk it will be stalled or slow fd taxes are raised on the rich? is that true? >> i don't think that is true. there are massive amounts of economic research on the data on that question. and most all of that research does not suggest that high income tax rates have an especially big impact on the growth rate in the u.s.. if you just take a step back and say okay, the first three quarters or so of the reagan administration is 50%. we've grown substantially. clinton raises the rate at the top. and we're still growing. and those kinds of anecdotes is growth rate in top tax rates are unkorel yaited so i think that this is a way overstatement. and using that to say tax cuts goring to pay for themselves there is evidence that that is not the case. >> thank you. nice to see you. >> gr
